All this info a bit much? We've got a wee explainer video on this build here ---->>>> Cruitha: Land Rover 110 SW Build
The ultimate blend of expedition overland camper and daily driver, this modular Defender 110 conversion has been designed to give you maximum flexibility without compromising on comfort.
Built around a fully modular interior system, this setup allows you to switch between camper, day van and passenger-carrying configurations depending on what you’re doing and who / how many you want to take.
Whether you're heading away for a weekend camping trip, carrying the family, or using your Defender as an everyday vehicle, the layout can be adapted to suit your needs.
The passenger side features a spacious kitchen unit with generous worktop space, integrated storage, a dedicated fridge platform and provision for a composting toilet (Trelino or Boxio). The modular design keeps the interior feeling open and airy while still providing plenty of practical storage for cooking equipment, food and travel essentials.
On the driver's side, the versatile bed system functions as a comfortable bench seat during the day before transforming into multiple seating and sleeping arrangements for one or two people.
The cantilever bed design eliminates the need for support legs, allowing easy access to gear stored underneath while creating a large and comfortable sleeping platform when fully extended. The bed in bench mode is 1900mm long and 750mm deep but can extend into various other forms with 4 extendable sections, creating L shaped seating options at either end or full double bed mode when fully extended at 1180mm wide.
One of the standout features of this conversion is its ability to accommodate additional belted seats. Sections of the furniture system can be removed and replaced with factory-mounted passenger seats, allowing the vehicle to be configured as a three, four or five-seat setup.
This means you can carry additional passengers when required while retaining much of the camper functionality.
Simply bolt in or out the forward sections of the kitchen unit and bed system, this then allows for the factory rear seats to be fitted back into the vehicle and integrate with the furniture.
The system has been designed around practical travel use, with compatibility for Front Runner Flat Pack storage boxes, dedicated fridge mounting points and easy access to storage throughout the vehicle, even when the bed is deployed.
We have two variants –
- You’ve got a pop top fitted (AluCab or AW 4x4). This means we can clad the roof with our signature topography birch panelling, contours of the island of Islay (historically a very inspirational place for the Land Rover!), but… this can be customised if you ask nicely. Also with the pop top roof fitted the factory wall mouldings will have been removed, and as part of this we line the walls with some birchy goodness too. We can work around any rear wall variant, be it factory utility, factory windows, or aftermarket
- No pop top and factory roof / wall linings. This means everything lower than this can be fitted, so flooring, bed system and kitchen unit. Hence the slightly lower price point too, but still retaining all the functionality of the full system.
Combined with the pop-top roof, or indeed a roof tent, the conversion sleeps up to four people, making it ideal for couples, families and adventure travellers looking for a versatile Defender overland camper that can adapt to changing needs.
Prior to the installation of our kit the vehicle requires some pre love, including sound deadening, insulation and carpet lining work. We have an option for us to carry that work out too, or this can be completed by the customer or third party prior to the fitting date.
This package is install only here at Ply Guys HQ, which is included in the price. Times vary, but including prep work this would take three days to complete. Then you’ll be free to roam.
