MTB World Series Qualifiers

FINN'S MTB WORLD SERIES CONTINUES!

At the end of the 2025 season, I secured a top five finish in the European Downhill Mountain Biking series, earning a golden ticket to race in the 2026 World Series.

Shortly after the race, a friend visiting New Zealand offered me a place to stay. I spent two months there, riding from late January to March, training hard for the World Series.

Returning from New Zealand, the first round of the World Series was in South Korea in early May. However, I was down in the borders doing some laps in Innerleithen when I unfortunately fell and broke my wrist. I was devastated about missing out on South Korea. Thankfully, the injury wasn’t too severe and I was only in a cast for four weeks, allowing me to recover and race in the next round in Loudenvielle, the French Pyrenees.

After four weeks in the cast, I had it removed and the consultant assured me it had healed well. I was thrilled to be fit to ride again. Just in time to pack up and head to Europe!

We embarked on a long 24-hour drive to the Pyrenees and finally arrived. We arrived a few days early, which was great for exploring the area on my e-bike before the race.

Thursday was track walk day, It looked incredible – steep, fast and insanely dusty.

Practice day on Friday was fantastic. I felt comfortable on the bike and the track.

On Saturday, Qualifying day, I practised again in the morning from 11:30 to 12:30. The track was getting seriously blown out with huge holes developing. I felt fantastic on the bike and ready for my Qualifying run.

However, I was red-flagged halfway down during my run because a rider in front of me had crashed. I had to go up for a re-run which was going well until I veered off my line and had to back up to get back on track. Thankfully, I didn’t exit the course boundaries so I wasn’t immediately disqualified but I was far off the track and lost a lot of time. Initially, I was quite annoyed at the bottom because I didn’t qualify.

But looking at the times, I would have qualified for the finals if I hadn’t made that mistake. It was a cool realisation!

MTB Downhill Mountain Biking

We’re now off to Schladming in Austria for some riding before the third round of the World Series in Leogang on the 13th and 14th of June. The race will be available to watch on TNT Sports in the UK and Eurosport in Europe.
